Basic Water Treatment Chemistry

Objectives
By the end of the workshop you will be able to:
- Describe a simple model of the atom and it’s constituents
- Understand the principal of Hydrogen bonding
- Have knowledge of the water cycle
- Recognise the common impurities in water sources
- Understand parts per million (ppm)
- Know why results are reported as CaCO3
- Recognise the basic scale formation equations
- Be aware of which water impurities cause problems and why

Managers who are responsible for overseeing Health and Safety procedures for multiple cooling or steam boiler plants. New water treatment engineers or those who have no formal knowledge and understanding of this industry.
