Controlling Legionella in Cooling Towers
(Supervisors & Staff operating Cooling towers)
Objectives
By the end of the workshop you will be able to:
- Describe what legionella is, and how it multiplies
- Identify water systems that could be sources for legionella
- State the route of infection and have knowledge of individual susceptibility
- Understand basic water treatment terms
- Have an insight into water treatment of cooling systems
- Understand the legal implication of being the Responsible Person
- Be able to maintain, a quality legionellosis record keeping system for cooling towers
- Recognise the need for corrective action control
- Be aware of legionella risk assessment findings and setting up inspection, monitoring and corrective control programs
Who Should Attend?
Managers who are responsible for overseeing Health and Safety procedures, supervisors of staff operating cooling towers and staff responsible for regular actions and records concerning legionella prevention in cooling systems.
